INSPIRED BY KENYA
Welcome to Bricknic, where cooking and community come together! Our journey began with a simple yet powerful idea: to connect people and create lasting memories through shared culinary experiences. Inspired by traditional brick-making techniques in Kenya, Timm Donke invented the Bricknic Cooking Brick. Observing how handmade bricks are stacked to build temporary kilns for house construction in Kenya sparked the concept behind our innovative cooking bricks.
Initially, the goal was to create brick ovens for social gatherings, providing a central place to prepare and enjoy food together. During his travels to East Africa, Timm researched traditional brickmaking and refined his idea. Bricknic emerged from a passion for craftsmanship and the desire to unite people, blending ancient techniques with a modern design approach.
GOOD FOOD, GOOD COMMUNITY
Our mission is straightforward: foster a sense of unity and create unforgettable experiences with the Bricknic Cooking Bricks, whether at home, in the garden, or out in nature. When you first see a stacked Bricknic oven, it looks like a beautiful, sculptural pyramid made of smooth, cotto-shaded bricks. The magic happens when the core of the pyramid is lit with fire. As people start removing bricks one by one, they discover each brick is hollow and filled with deliciously cooked food.
BUILDING COMMUNITY
Bricknic—a picnic with bricks—is more than just a cooking method; it’s a social experience. We also organize Bricknic events, bringing people together to cook, share, and celebrate. “When traveling to East Africa, we saw how they made bricks for construction. The bricks are stacked to form the oven itself and then fired. Every brick is dependent on the others to hold the structure. We found this fascinating and translated it into a social cooking event where everyone’s contribution is essential.”
Join us on this flavorful journey and discover the magic of cooking with Bricknic. Together, we build more than just meals; we build a community.
